... a professor ... at the University of Waterloo ... is the principal investigator for several Canadian Space Agency funded research projects. This includes Earth-based simulations (WISE-2005, a study of women in bed rest for 60-days, and the upcoming European Space Agency bed rests to investigate the role of artificial gravity countermeasures) and two projects studying the effects of long-duration space flight on the cardiovascular system. 1, record 1, English, - artificial%20gravity%20countermeasure

Spaceflight and bed rest models of microgravity have profound effects on physiological systems, including the cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, and immune systems. These effects can be exacerbated by sub-optimal nutrient status, and therefore it is critical to monitor nutritional status when evaluating countermeasures to mitigate negative effects of spaceflight. 2, record 2, English, - artificial%20gravity%20countermeasure
