In 1998, seventy-five Canadian parliamentarians, from all five existing political parties represented in Parliament, founded the Friendship Group of Parliamentarians for UNESCO. The friendship group aims to enhance parliamentarians' knowledge of UNESCO programs in all parts of the world and to support Canada's participation in UNESCO, through cooperation with the Canadian Commission for UNESCO.

Groupe de parlementaires amis de l'UNESCO. Le Groupe de parlementaires amis de l'UNESCO a été fondé en octobre 1998 par 75 parlementaires canadiens des cinq partis politiques alors représentés au Parlement. Le groupe vise à renseigner les parlementaires sur les programmes que l'UNESCO met en œuvre à travers le monde et à soutenir la participation du Canada aux travaux de l'UNESCO et, cela, tout en coopérant avec la Commission canadienne pour l'UNESCO.
