This review formed the foundation for the broader Appeals Renewal Initiative (ARI) that was announced by the Minister [Revenue Canada] in April 1997 aimed at improving the appeals process by focusing on service improvements in the areas of communications, fairness, transparency, timeliness and accessibility to the redress process.
