The transmitter loop is a large rectangle, several thousand feet to the side. A long wire might also be used. The detector consists of two mutually perpendicular loops, one horizontal and one vertical, connected effectively in opposition through a transformer to amplifier and headphones. The vertical coil, with a fixed number of turns, is shunted by a capacitance to give parallel resonance at the source frequency and is connected through a reversing switch to the transformer primary. The horizontal coil has multiple taps for a variable inductance. The coils are about two feet in diameter and are mounted on a vertical post. 1, record 1, English, - Bieler%2DWatson%20method

1, record 1, French, - m%C3%A9thode%20Bieler%2DWatson
