If in the form of a plain block, it is a block modillion or incut modillion. Found in Corinthian, Composite, and, less frequently, Roman Ionic orders.

Selon leur forme, on distingue les modillons doriques (ou mutules), les modillons à volutes, les modillons carrés, les modillons à copeaux. L'espace compris entre deux modillons est appelé «entre-deux, métatome ou métoche». [...] Les «denticules» sont des petits modillons de forme cubique, rapprochés les uns des autres.
