Ensemble de conventions permettant de gérer une liaison de raccordement composée de plusieurs lignes physiques comme une ressources unique. Ce protocole assure le partage des lignes de la liaison. Le faisceau multiligne ainsi constitué est l'équivalent d'une ligne plus rapide et plus sûre. En effet, le défaillage d'une des lignes aura pour seule conséquence de réduire la capacité de transmission de la liaison.
