LAHMS has proven to be instrumental in preserving [the] local heritage ... LAHMS began looking into purchasing Uplands in 1985 with the intent to create a museum and cultural centre. ... the building was purchased jointly by the Town and LAHMS and opened in 1988. ... The Society continues to produce exhibits of local flavour on the second floor of Uplands, while updating its permanent exhibits on a seasonal basis. The society also maintains an impressive collection of artifacts and archival materials pertaining to the Lennoxville-Ascot region.

The society was established in 1970 and its current name was adopted in 1971. It received its Letters Patent in 1985.
