Les zones ne sont pas seulement contiguës à un moment donné mais, pour un même lieu, il peut se produire, dans le temps, différents niveaux de nordicité; un site peut devenir moins nordique et descendre d'une nordicité de Grand Nord à une nordicité de Moyen Nord; cas de plusieurs régions du Nord du Manitoba ou de la péninsule du Québec-Labrador, depuis la dernière Guerre.
