In Canada, the "legal interests" of the Crown are constitutionally assigned either to the federal, or to the provincial levels of government.

Étant donné que la notion d'État [Chef d'État] n'existe pas en common law, la version française doit comporter, le cas échéant, une disposition à l'effet que le terme «État» signifie Sa Majesté.
