[La] dimension d'étalement [est] définie de façon analogue à la dimension fractale, à l'exception que la distance n'est pas mesurée dans l'espace euclidien où le fractal est inséré, mais plutôt en unités du nombre de «liens» minimum qu'il faut franchir sur le fractal lui-même pour aller d'un point à l'autre. C'est la dimension qui est pertinente pour discuter des feux de forêts!
