The word "hatha" comes from the Sanskrit terms "ha" meaning "sun" and "tha" meaning "moon. "Thus, hatha yoga is known as the branch of yoga that unites pairs of opposites referring to the positive(sun) and negative(moon) currents in the system. It concentrates on the third(asana) and fourth(pranayama) steps in the eight limbs of yoga. Hatha yoga tries to achieve balance between body and mind, as well as attempts to free the more subtle spiritual elements of the mind through physical poses or asanas, breathing techniques or pranayama, and meditation.

The North Peace Tribal Council(NPTC) was incorporated in 1987 by the Beaver First Nation, Dene Tha’ First Nation, Little Red River Cree First Nation, Tallcree First Nations. The mission statement is to : address issues, resolve problems, share information and deliver programs and projects to achieve efficiencies by working together as Chiefs, Councilors and Elders and by engaging their first nation members. The Council provides a political forum to gather information, influence policy and decision making by external governments and by industry which impact their member First Nations; provides resources and support to member First Nations for professional advisory services and facilitate flow-through funding for other specified programs; provides meaningful employment for their First Nation members in accordance with their organizational needs and available funding.

The operation of the St. Andrews dam, constructed downstream by the federal government between 1903 and 1910 resulted in the gradual erosion of the river bank and forced the plaintiff in 1986, to abandon her home and to construct a new one farther away from the river. The plaintiff in this action, initially representative in nature, claimed damages for past injury. She also claimed in nuisance, seeking declarations tha there was a continuing nuisance, as to breach of duty and as to interference with riparian rights, and prospective damages.
