L'Organisation pour la Recherche et la Technologie (RTO) de l'OTAN est le centre de convergence des activités de recherche/technologie (R&T) pour la défense au sein de l'OTAN. Elle est chargée de conduire et de promouvoir la recherche menée en coopération et l'échange d'informations. Elle est chargée de participer à l'accroissement et à l'utilisation efficace des moyens nationaux dédiés à la R&T en matière de défense, de répondre aux besoins de l'Alliance, de conserver son avance technologique et de conseiller l'OTAN ainsi que ses dirigeants. La RTO remplit sa mission avec l'aide d'un vaste réseau d'experts.
