Signal acoustique dont une partie est légèrement déphasée (retard inférieur à 50 millisecondes), de sorte à simuler, pour l'auditeur, l'ambiance d'une salle de concert (sensation d'espace et d'ampleur, écho, etc.). L'effet obtenu est justement appelé «effet de salle»; le procédé utilisé, ambiophonie.

OBS

Le principe de la réverbération artificielle et de l'ambiophonie est clairement expliqué dans un ouvrage intitulé «Stéréophonie», publié par la Bibliothèque technique Philips en 1962 et 1964. L'auteur est N.V. Franssen.
