Cette anémogirouette a été conçue par George Kingston, le premier directeur du service météorologique canadien. L'un des premiers instruments de télélecture, il facilitait la détermination de la direction du vent. Le vent orientait les pales de l'anémogirouette dans la même direction qu'il soufflait. La direction était transmise par une série d'arbres et d'engrenages à un cadran situé dans la salle d'observation qui se trouvait en dessous.
