The space between the wall of the hole and the well casing or between the casing and the drill pipe.

CONT

The space around a pipe suspended in a wellbore is often termed the annulus, and its outer wall may be either the wall of the borehole or the casing.

CONT

After the landing flange has engaged bottom with the conductor pipe attached and extending into the borehole, cement is supplied to the annular space between the conductor pipe and the borehole.
