A beam trawl net is a fish net held open by a steel beam with two 'shoes' (two steel plates) attached at the ends. A concave-shaped net hangs behind the beam which retains the catch. A beam trawl is towed ... over the seafloor and is mostly used to catch shrimps, flatfish or fish living close [to] the seafloor.
