OBS

Organization of joint cooperation formed by Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg. A border union between these countries founded in 1947 constituting the embryo of the future European Union. Today Benelux is an economic union with eight committees working on economic relations, agriculture, commerce, industry, customs, and social affairs. Its members joined the E.E.C. in 1958.
