Mais les résultats restent souvent très qualitatifs s'ils ne sont pas complétés par des tests statistiques pouvant les justifier [...] De même, comme pour les transformées de Fourier, les résultats issus des transformées par ondelettes sont sensibles à un effet de bord qui ne ne permet pas d'interpréter les résultats à chaque extrémité de la période (calcul de l'effet de bord par détermination mathématique du cône d'influence [:] la zone où les résultats ne sont pas interprétables).
