The Canadian Bioethics Society was founded in 1988 by the amalgamation of the Canadian Society of Bioethics and the Canadian Society for Medical Bioethics. At this time, it has a membership of approximately 600, composed of health care administrators, lawyers, nurses, philosophers, physicians, theologians, and others concerned with the ethical and humane dimensions of health care.

La Société canadienne de bioéthique a été fondée en 1988 à la suite d'une fusion entre la Canadian Society of Bioethics et la Société canadienne de la bioéthique médicale. A l'heure actuelle, elle compte environ 600 membres regroupant administrateurs en milieu médical, avocats, personnel infirmier, philosophes, médecins, théologiens et autres personnes s'intéressant aux questions se rapportant à l'éthique et à l'aspect humain du domaine de la santé.
