Le marqueur de membrane CD4, caractéristique de certaines sous-populations de lymphocyte T (cellules accessoires ou helper) est le récepteur principal des virus du SIDA HIV-1 ET hiv-2; il se fixe spécifiquement à la glycoprotéine de surface gp 120 de ces virus.
