The strip of land, usually grass-covered or landscaped, between the lanes for traffic going in opposite directions on some modern highways and expressways.

CONT

When crossing a dual carriageway, treat each half as a separate road. Wait at the central dividing strip (the central reserve) until there is a safe gap in the traffic.

Subject to specific exceptions for which the Priorities and Planning Committee may provide on occasion, the Central Reserve (of the Policy and Expenditure Management System) is to be used solely to cover cost overruns resulting from changes such as revisions in the underlying economic or demographic assumptions in statutory or quasi-statutory programs.
