Pour préserver leur efficacité, tous les vaccins doivent être conservés au froid à une température se situant entre 32 et 46,4 degrés Fahrenheit (0 °C et 8 °C). Il faut donc créer une chaîne du froid que l'on définit comme : Un système continu de conservation et de distribution des vaccins à une température précise partant de la production jusqu'à l'administration, une méthode garantissant l'efficacité des vaccins.
