In 2001, Statistics Canada, on behalf of the Office of Energy Efficiency of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), conducted the first Commercial and Institutional Building Energy Use Survey (CIBEUS). En 2001, Statistique Canada a réalisé cette première Enquête sur la consommation d'énergie dans les bâtiments commerciaux et institutionnels (ECÉBCI) pour le compte de l'Office de l'efficacité énergétique (OEE) de Ressources naturelles Canada (RNCan).
