In 1992, it was decided to redesign the system for airborne use. The focus of this second-generation Concept Airborne Sonar Demonstrator (CASD) was on demonstrating that traditional passive processing and display concepts could be effectively extended using modern human-computer interface (HCI) techniques to allow large sonobuoy fields to be exploited.
