In economic geology, graphite disseminated in metamorphic rock as thin, visible flakes that are separable from the rock by mechanical means.

CONT

Flake graphite is foliated, consisting of flat, small crystals, whereas amorphous graphite is microcrystalline and is found in compact, earthy masses.
