Organe de sécurité qui arrête le métier en cas d'incident de tricotage survenant dans les aiguilles ou sur le tricot.

OBS

Le métier peut s'arrêter pour différentes causes : par exemple un fil cassé, c'est le casse-fil qui l'arrête; une aiguille défectueuse, un bourrage, le fil qui n'est pas rigoureusement parfait, provoquent l'arrêt de la machine par la débrayeuse. Sur un métier qui a 96 organes de tricotage, il y a 96 casse-fils, mais il n'y a pas de débrayeuse à chaque chute, il y en a tous les trois ou quatre organes de tricotage.
