The navicular bone is the smallest of the three bones of the foot. It is located at the posterior junction of the pedal and coronary bone, resting slightly on the pedal bone, but held in place largely by the deep flexor tendon.

OBS

Sa forme générale est celle d'une navette de tisserand, d'où son ancien nom (qui est officiellement réservé aujourd'hui à l'os central du tarse). Il s'articule contre la partie postérieure de la deuxième phalange, le tendon du fléchisseur profond des phalanges coulisse sur sa face inférieure.
