En los últimos tiempos, un nuevo término no exento de polémica, el decrecimiento, ha irrumpido con fuerza en el escenario de la construcción de las alternativas. En términos generales, se defiende la idea de que hay que recuperar el sentido del desarrollo (humano) entendido como la mejora de las condiciones de vida de las poblaciones, en una perspectiva de sostenibilidad. Para lo que no tiene porqué darse –necesariamente- crecimiento económico, sino que hay que modificar determinados parámetros del modelo de desarrollo actual, y manejar nuevas variables que se correspondan con un desarrollo equitativo y sustentable, con las personas y con el planeta.
