La porcelaine tendre naturelle, ou porcelaine phosphatique, est une création anglaise du XVIIIe s., où la fritte est remplacée par une matière première naturelle; le phosphate de calcium, sous forme d'os calcinés et pulvérisés, comprend également l'emploi d'une roche spécifiquement anglaise, le "cornish stone", proche de la pegmatite. Le façonnage s'opère par calibrage et coulage.
