For experiments to be conducted on human subjects, the ESA Medical Board reviews the medical protocols submitted by the investigators two months prior to the campaign to ensure that the proposed research is conducted according to the ethical and safety rules for spaceflights. In particular, all interfaces applied to human subjects are verified and procedures to be followed in nominal and non-nominal situations are reviewed.
