A region of the lateral zone of the hypothalamus, electrical stimulation of which in the rat elicits uninterrupted eating; destruction of the region causes long-lasting anorexia.

CONT

The hypothalamus is the most important region in the control of food intake and body weight. The ventromedial "satiety center" and lateral hypothalamic "feeding center" have been implicated in the regulation of feeding and energy homeostasis by various studies of brain lesions.

Le « centre de la satiété » hypothalamique ventro-médian et le « centre de la faim » hypothalamique latéral interviennent dans la régulation de l'alimentation et de l'homéostasie énergétique selon diverses études de lésions cérébrales.
