The controlled pulling of a fiber, in a melted or softened state, through an aperture, causing it to elongate and thus to reduce its diameter as it cools.

Le fibrage est l'opération par laquelle la préforme est transformée en fibre. Le fibrage consiste à chauffer la préforme à une température telle qu'elle puisse être étirée. Il y a donc, à la fois chauffage et action mécanique, la fibre est ensuite enroulée sur un tambour.
