The fractal structure obtained by a growth process that starts with a single seed particle placed onto a site of a lattice. Its neighbouring sites are considered live if they may become occupied. Next, one of these live sites is chosen randomly and either filled with a particle or killed for the rest of time. The filled site becomes part of the growing cluster and its new neighbours become living sites. Lefèvre (1983) et ses collaborateurs ont proposé un remarquable modèle du lit vasculaire pulmonaire, basé sur des arbres fractals et une fonction de coût. Des arborisations symétriques et asymétriques ont été explorées. Les auteurs définissent des arbres «consistants» à partir de Fredberg et Honing (1978).
