La staurotide est orthorhombique et se présente presque toujours en association maclée de deux cristaux: macle de la Croisette avec pénétration réciproque [...] ou croix de Saint-André, dans laquelle les deux cristaux sont obliques. [...] La cassure est en général conchoïdale. La couleur est très variable, du jaune au rouge brun, et les cristaux sont souvent d'aspect très rouillé.
