The SLS ground reference station then compares signals sent from GPS satellites with the true (surveyed) position of the RSMU's to determine errors resulting from atmospheric and other effects. This technique is known as differential GPS.

Le système au sol se compose de stations de référence au sol dispersées et formant un réseau et d'une station maîtresse reliées entre elles par des communications terrestres.
