Le gonflant constitue (...) une caractéristique générale de tous les fils texturés. Au cours des divers traitements, les filaments constitutifs, initialement parallèles et rectilignes, sont frisés et leurs ondulations viennent se superposer en désordre, d'où l'apparition du volume et quelquefois de l'élasticité. Dans tous les cas, le volume initial du fil se trouve augmenté. Ce fil devient plus couvrant et il permet de fabriquer des articles plus légers (...).
