The objectives of this organization, which is established in St Albert, Alberta, are to be recognized by all persons and groups involved in municipal government in Alberta as an Association representing collective municipal concerns of all improvement districts in Alberta; to provide assistance to advisory councils; to provide education and development opportunities for advisory councillors; to promote involvement of remote communities in process of local government; to promote concept of long-term planning in improvement districts; to promote increased autonomy for improvement districts whenever possible.
