Trademarks are in most countries registered in one or more different classes and mainly under an international classification system called the Nice Agreement. The Nice Classification is based on a multilateral treaty administered by WIPO [World Intellectual Property Organization]. This treaty is called the Nice Agreement Concerning the International Classification of Goods and Services for the Purposes of the Registration of Marks, which was concluded in 1957. This Classification is commonly referred to as the Nice Classification.
