Bond given by the contractor to the owner guaranteeing to rectify defects in workmanship or materials for a specified time following completion. A 1-year maintenance bond is normally included in the performance bond without additional charge.

Le cautionnement d'entretien est un engagement écrit, en faveur du bénéficiaire, signé par l'entrepreneur et la caution; selon cet engagement, l'entrepreneur garantit la qualité du travail effectué et des matériaux employés, et promet de corriger tous les défauts découverts pendant une période définie, s'il sont imputables à la main-d'œuvre ou aux matériaux. On fait en général la demande d'un tel cautionnement lorsque les travaux ont été acceptés, et on peut l'utiliser pour obtenir le remboursement de la retenue habituelle, avant la date mentionnée dans les devis.
