This will be accomplished by a 3 per cent cut in the Main Estimates in the operations and maintenance as well as the capital budgets of each department. As a result, overall operational expenditures for existing programs will be held in 1991-92 to the same level as 1990-91.

Le Conseil du Trésor du Canada a annoncé, le 5 février 1998, que l'équivalent français de Main Estimates devient «Budget principal des dépenses», et celui de Supplementary Estimates, «Budget supplémentaire des dépenses».
