In the case of a probability distribution with k variates, a distribution of a subset of p variates, the other (k-p) variates taking any values in their interval of variation. Example: In a probability distribution with three variates, X, Y, Z, there are: - three bivariate marginal distributions: distribution of the pairs (X, Y), (X, Z), (Y, Z); - three univariate marginal distributions; distributions of X, Y and Z. 1, record 1, English, - marginal%20distribution

Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 OBS
In a distribution with two variates, the distribution of one of the variates, the other being ignored. It may be obtained by adding for each value or class of the variate under consideration the corresponding absolute (or relative) frequencies of the other variate. The notion of marginal distribution may be extended to more than two variates. In this case, a marginal distribution is a univariate or a multivariate distribution, the other variates being integrated out. 1, record 2, English, - marginal%20distribution

2, record 2, French, - distribution%20marginale
