The SP2's [visual display system] memory also contains complete routes from one airport to another. Lufthansa was the first company to use the fully automated lesson plan on its B.737-100 simulator in early 1979, in order to fly complete routes in simulator training. The key to this approach is the Modular Advanced Graphics Generation System, or MAGGS, developed by Redifon, which means that the instructor only has to push one button to obtain an entire training program, allowing his full attention to be given to the crew under training.
