On sait que la plupart des réalisateurs [...] refont une partie de leur son direct après le tournage, en post-synchronisation. Le problème de l'ingénieur du son, lors du mixage, consiste à faire «raccorder» les phrases refaites en auditorium avec les phrases originales, voire certaines scènes entre elles. Imaginons que l'ingénieur du son «tournage» ait recueilli la réponse impulsionnelle du lieu où il a enregistré. En l'injectant dans un processeur dédié, ainsi qu'une voix enregistrée en champ proche, sans résonance (en cabine d'extérieur, par exemple), on aura vraiment l'impression que la voix sonne dans le lieu de tournage.
