Regulations promulgated by EPA that establish the maximum permissible emission levels from certain types of new sources.

OBS

Consequently, EPA requires more stringent technology-related controls for major new sources through New Source Performance Standards. As a result of the implementation of these rules, new sources will emit 12 pounds of SO2 per coal ton instead of the 83 pounds of SO2 per coal ton that existing plants emit.
