The Nigerian Institute for Oceanography and Marine Research consolidated the achievements on shell fish breeding scheme for mass production of fingerlings and establishment of oceanography data bank. New products and techniques developed by the Institute were the breeding of a hybrid specie: a cross of Heterotranclus Tongifilis and H. Bidorsalies, and the improvement on the growth performance of the hybrid of clarias geniepenus and H Tongifilis. The Institute designed and constructed prototype fishing gear and conservation biodiversity.
