Le sujet observe, binoculairement, un fil central vertical; des autres fils, placés à la périphérie, l'observateur voit la moitié supérieure avec un œil et la moitié inférieure avec l'autre. On déplace chaque fil, indépendamment des autres, jusqu'à ce que les deux moitiés se trouvent alignées.

Horóptero Vernier o nonius: Se utilizan máscaras perforadas o polarizadores de forma que cada ojo vea sólo la mitad inferior osuperior de las varillas verticales.
