Occupational first aid provides participants with the skills and knowledge to be able to establish, maintain and facilitate the provision of first aid in the workplace.

There are three levels of occupational first aid (OFA) and one OFA certificate endorsement. The level of first aid services required for a workplace depends on the number of workers, distance to medical aid, and industry hazard rating.

[…] Canadian Red Cross emergency first aid (EFA) and standard first aid (SFA) [are] recognized as equivalent to occupational first aid (OFA) Level 1, also known as workplace emergency first aid (WEFA).

As such, it is a course that is recommended for those who mainly deal with work colleagues rather than patrons or clients. This introductory first aid course helps workers identify life threatening and common emergencies in the workplace.
