«Oil custody metering system» veut dire très exactement «prover» ou «meter prover». Voir les équivalents de ces termes donnés dans les dictionnaires sur le pétrole et le gaz. Le terme «custody» exprime l'idée que le pétrole ou le gaz change de propriétaire après qu'il a franchi les appareils de comptage.
