PHLIS is a personal computer-based reporting system that can capture most types of public health data from multiple sources and accommodate electronic transmission of these data between sending and receiving sites. PHLIS also provides the capacity for a hierarchical reporting scheme involving reports to multiple, successively higher reporting levels.
