Le louchébem a été un véritable jargon et, à proprement parler, l'argot des bouchers, d'où son nom. La formation de ses vocables est systématique et se réduit à deux règles : 1 - remplacer la première consonne d'un mot par la lettre 1 (si le mot commence par une voyelle, la lettre 1 pourra purement et simplement précéder cette voyelle); 2 - rejeter, à la fin du mot, la consonne ainsi remplacée et lui ajouter la désinence em.
